EDINBURG, Texas - Texas-Pan American defeated Houston Baptist, 3-2, tonight in a thriller at Edinburg, Texas. It was the season finale for both teams with UTPA finishing the regular season in fifth place in the GWC, one spot ahead of HBU.

UTPA won the first two sets, 25-21, 25-23, before the Huskies fought back and took the next two sets, 25-14, 26-24. The Lady Broncs took the fifth and deciding set, 15-11.

Texas-Pan American (8-16, 5-7) was led by led by Noelle Mayer with 11 kills, followed by Sarah Davis with nine. Rebecca Toddy registered 20 digs and Rita Gonzalez added 34 assists.

The Huskies (12-19, 3-9) had four players in double-digit kills, led by Heather Leaverton who recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 17 digs. Ligia Clemente posted 15 kills and four blocks, Jolie Graf had 14 kills and Paige Jenkins added 11. Natalie Magat had 56 assists and Courtney Whittleman led with 28 digs.

Both teams will next be in action Friday when HBU hosts the Great West Conference Volleyball Tournament, Nov. 20-21, at Sharp Gym in Houston, Texas.
