GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota outfielder Casie Hanson has been named to the 2010 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Softball first team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Hanson is the third Fighting Sioux athlete in school history to be awarded three Academic All-America honors.

A native of St. Peter, Minn., Hanson is a community nutrition major. She was named the 2010 Great West Conference Player of the Year after hitting .445 with seven home runs, five triples and 21 runs batted in in 48 games. She also scored 47 runs. Earlier this month, Hanson led the Fighting Sioux to the GWC championship and was named the tournament's most valuable player.
