No. 2 Seed South Dakota Defeats No. 1 Seed Utah Valley, 3-1; Advances to Championship Game

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas -
No. 2 seed South Dakota knocked off No. 1 seed Utah Valley in the third-place game on Monday morning, 3-1, advancing the Coyotes to the 2010 Great West Conference Softball Championship game against No. 4 seed North Dakota.at Oran Good Park in Farmers Branch, Texas. First pitch for the championship game is at 1 p.m. with a second game to be followed 30 minutes after if South Dakota wins game one against UND. USD's Mel Johnson had a steller performance from the mound with a complete game effort to improve to 16-13 on the year. The righthander scattered three hits and struck out two while just allowing one earned run. USD jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first three innings and never looked back with Johnson's effort and solid defensive play behind GWC Pitcher of the Year. --GWC-- |
