NEWARK, N.J. - Jaime Lyons and Katey Turner scored two goals apiece as Utah Valley defeated Delaware State, 6-1, at the Great West Conference Soccer Tournament at Newark, N.J.
Utah Valley, the West Division champion, scored its first goal on a corner kick by Nicole Archibald at the 15:22 mark.
At 25:02, Delaware State's Allison Schrang scored on an assist by Ashlee Gourdine to tie the game at 1-1.
Lyons, an All-Conference selection, then got her first goal of the match at 31:55 to give the Wolverines a 2-1 halftime lead.
The second half was all Utah Valley.
Turner scored her first goal off an assist by Nicole Archibald at 66:11 and then provided an assist to Kelly Vide for a goal at 71:31 to give UVU a 4-1 lead.
Turner and Lyons each scored their second goals, Turner from Kelsey Kimball at 82:46 before providing an assist for Lyons, who scored at 86:33 to give UVU the 6-1 win.
All-Conference goalkeeper Tasha Bell recorded two saves for the Wolverines. Her counterpart, Courtney Haas, registered eight saves for DSU (1-15-2)
Utah Valley (7-10-1) outshot the Hornets, 30-7, and had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
