Howard University Claims Soccer Player of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Howard University soccer players Retha Koefoed and Chanel Bell have been chosen Great West Conference Soccer Players of the Week. The awards were announced Monday by the league office.
Koefoed, a freshman midfielder from Bethesda, Md. scored one goal and two points in the Bison's debut last Sunday versus Youngstown State. She had three shots (two on goal) but the Bison fell to the Penguins, 3-2, at Howard's Greene Stadium.
On the defensive side, Bell took the honors after posting 11 saves for a .786 save percentage. The goalkeeper is from Whittier, Calif.
In other weekend action involving Great West teams, South Dakota fell to Northern Iowa, 3-0, while Utah defeated Utah Valley, 6-0. HBU's game with Houston was canceled after five minutes of play due to lightning.
