NAPERVILLE, IL - Cal Poly won the 2008 Great West title going away and three key components of that championship team hoping to make a long run in the upcoming NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoff picked up major awards in balloting of the conference coaches, the league announced today. Mustang wide receiver Ramses Barden won his second consecutive Offensive Player of the Year award, cornerback Asa Jackson was voted as Top Rookie and Rich Ellerson was named Coach of the Year. Other top awards went to John Faletoese from UC Davis, who was named Defensive Player of the Year, and return specialist Nick Miller from Southern Utah, who was named Special Teams Player of the Year.
