WEEK 11 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Nov. 12, 2006

Elmhurst, Ill. - North Dakota State halfback Kyle Steffes has been the model of consistency this season, rushing for more than 100 yards in eight games and gaining 1,155 yards for the year. Yet, one thing was missing from the senior's resume - a Great West Offensive Player of the Week. Well, he finally achieved that award after his 127-yard outing Saturday against No. 8 Cal Poly, one of the top defenses in the Football Championship Subdivision. For the Defensive Player of the Week, NDSU linebacker Joe Mays was the cornerstone of a defense that held Cal Poly to just 62 yards and two first downs in the final three quarters of a 51-13 victory. The Special Teams Player of the Week Parker Douglass kicked a Great West-best 53-yard field goal in South Dakota State's 31-21 win over Southern Utah, setting up the border battle for the league title next week.
