Moscow, Idaho - Idaho used a big second half to hand the University of North Dakota football team a 45-0 loss in the season opener for both teams tonight at Moscow, Idaho.

The Fighting Sioux stayed in the game in the first half, trailing 17-0 at intermission, but mistakes and turnovers proved costly for North Dakota. UND committed three turnovers while knocking on the end zone, and three turnovers resulted in Vandal scores.

North Dakota quarterback Jake Landry went 19-of-34 for 122 yards and two interceptions. Josh Murray rushed for 47 yards on 10 carries, while Mitch Sutton gained 30 yards on eight carries. Backup quarterback Brent Goska came in during the fourth quarter and rushed for 47 yards on six tries. UND's leading receiver was fullback Catlin Solum with 45 yards on seven receptions.

"We can learn from this," said UND coach Chris Mussman. "Idaho is a good football team, and their quarterback is something special. We've got some work to do--clean up self-inflicted wounds. We're getting better--we're a better football team than last year."

While each team rushed for 148 yards apiece, Idaho amassed 547 yards in total offense, including 311 passing yards by quarterback Nathan Enderle, who was 24-of-37 with two touchdowns and one interception. The Fighting Sioux gained 270 total yards and committed five turnovers.
