Ogden, Utah -- Southern Utah University jumped out to a 21-6 lead with 10:26 remaining in the first half and held on in the second to claim a 34-31 win over the Wildcats on Saturday night. SUU quarterback Casey Rehrer hit on 23 of 31 pass attempts for 266 yards and four touchdowns and ran the ball 15 times for 93 yards to lead the T-birds to the victory. Nick Chournos scored on a four-yard TD run with 10:04 to go in the third quarter to cut the lead to 21-16 and put the 'Cats back in the game. Following the Chournos score, the two teams traded touchdowns twice with E. Tuiaki scoring twice for SUU, once on a pass from Rehrer and once on a 3-yard run. The Wildcats countered with two Kyle Bauer TD passes, with both coming on fourth down. The first Bauer strike came on fourth and goal from the two-yard-line as he connected with Chris McConnell on a fade route. The second strike came with just under three minutes left in the game as Bauer hit Ryan Nath on a 50-yard TD pass in a fourth-and-12 situation to complete the game's scoring. The Wildcats held SUU on the ensuing possession, but was unable to convert a third fourth-down from midfield with under 30 seconds left as they looked for the tying or go-ahead score. Chournos finished the game with 26 carries for 114 yards, while Bauer was 13 of 30 for 205 yards and two TD's.
