NAPERVILLE, Ill. - NJIT's Chris Flores has been named Great West Conference Player of the Week after an outstanding performance last week. The award was announced Monday by the league office.

Flores hit the game-winning reverse layup with four seconds remaining to defeat Texas-Pan American, 58-57, Saturday to send the Highlanders to 2-0 in Great West Conference play. The junior guard from Dorchester, Mass., scored 17 points in the win, while also posting three assists and two steals. In the GWC opener two days earlier against Houston Baptist, Flores recorded eight assists to go with 10 points and three steals in the 85-62 win over the Huskies.

Others nominated for the weekly honor were Jeremy Robinson (Chicago State), Art Bernardi (Houston Baptist), Brandon Brekke (North Dakota), Aaron Urbanus (Texas-Pan American) and Holton Hunsaker (Utah Valley).
