South Dakota's Tyler Cain Chosen Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - South Dakota's Tyler Cain, the GWC Preseason Player of the Year, was selected the Great West Conference Player of the Week after posting two double-doubles in back-to-back games last week. The honor was announced Monday by the conference office.
Cain, a senior from Rochester, Minn., scored 17 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in a two-point loss to 2009 NCAA Tournament team Morehead State. He shot 6-of-8 (.750) from the field and recorded four blocks and three assists in the 66-64 defeat.
The 6-8 forward followed up that performance with 18 points and 10 boards in a 91-69 loss at No. 12 Kansas State on Sunday. Against the Wildcats, Cain was a near perfect 9-of-10 (.900) from the field and blocked five shots while also posting two assists and three steals.
Others nominated for the honor were Christian Wall (Chicago State), Isaiah Wilkerson (NJIT), Chris Clausen (North Dakota) and Nick Weiermiller (Texas-Pan American).
