Oct. 27, 2011
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Seattle U's Hannah Mittelstaedt has been named Great West Conference Runner of the Week after her outstanding performance last week at Oregon State's Beaver Classic. The award was announced Thursday by the conference office.
Mittelstaedt finished sixth of 91 competitors at the Beaver Classic, running the fastest time of her career and claiming her second top-10 finish of the season. She shaved 10 seconds off her season best and 30 seconds off her time from the same meet last year. Mittelstaedt completed the 6K race in a time of 22:31, and it was the fourth time this season that she finished as Seattle U's top runner in an event. The sophomore from Maple Valley, Wash., led the Redhawks to a second place finish behind Portland and finishing ahead of teams such as Oregon and host Oregon State.
GWC teams will next be in action at the 2011 Great West Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 29, as North Dakota hosts the event at Ray Richards Golf Course in Grand Forks, N.D.
