Aug. 11, 2010

Four Great West Conference schools have been recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as Division I All-Academic Teams.

North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah Valley were recognized for both men and women, while NJIT's women's program earned the distinction. The squads were honored for posting a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average for the 2009-10 academic year.

North Dakota made the list with a 3.25 GPA, followed closely by Utah Valley with a 3.23 and South Dakota with a 3.05. Yale led the 73 Division I teams with a 3.42 GPA.

On the women's side, North Dakota led the GWC schools with a 3.50 GPA, followed by South Dakota with a 3.36, Utah Valley with a 3.31 and NJIT with a 3.11. Oklahoma led the 151 women's programs recognized with a 3.62 GPA.

Indiana and Arizona State were named Men's Scholar Teams of the Year and Tennessee and Penn State claimed the women's honors as a result of being the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.0 GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championships.
