Jacque George Cottrell became the first full-time media relations director for the Great West Conference in August of 2009. Along with her duties as media relations director, Cottrell serves as the conference's Senior Woman Administrator.

Cottrell came to the Great West after serving as director of athletic media relations and SWA at Houston Baptist University for 18 years.

A native of Arkansas, Cottrell received her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas and worked in the Razorback sports information office for long-time sports information director Rick Schaeffer. Cottrell left Arkansas to become assistant director of media relations for the Southwest Conference in Dallas under Bill Morgan. While at the SWC, Cottrell also served as co-media director for the Cotton Bowl, as well as media assistant for men's and women's Final Fours, men's and women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, NCAA baseball regionals and co-media director for all SWC Championships and events. In addition, she worked as television liaison for CBS and ESPN for numerous NCAA regional basketball tournaments and twice edited the Football Writers' Association of America directory.

Cottrell left the Southwest Conference office to become a stockbroker and worked in the investment and banking business for five years before resuming her career in sports information.

At HBU, she received 61 CoSIDA and NAIA publication awards for her media guides. She received CoSIDA's "Best in the Nation" for the 1998 softball media guide and first place by the NAIA-SIDA for the 2002 and 2004 softball, the 2002 volleyball, the 2002-03 women's basketball and 2006-07 men's basketball media guides. She also authored HBU's NCAA Strategic Plan as the Huskies rejoined Division I athletics.

Cottrell is married to HBU basketball coach Ron Cottrell and the couple has two daughters: Scottlyn Rose (15), and Sydney-Anne (13). She is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, the Football Writers' Association of America, the United States Basketball Writers' Association and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association.
