NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Houston Baptist University has been honored by its fellow conference institutions with the first Great West Conference Sportsmanship Award.

The Great West Sportsmanship Award is given annually to the institution that is judged by its peers to be the best in the league in living up to the ideals of sportsmanship. Areas for evaluation include student-athlete conduct, staff/administrator conduct, coaches' conduct and event management.

"HBU is very humbled to receive this award," said Husky Athletics Director Steve Moniaci. "We are very grateful to the other members of the Great West Conference for this recognition, and I personally am very proud of our coaches for their contributions in mentoring our student athletes. What we are all most proud of are our student-athletes, who are the reasons that HBU has achieved this honor."
