Cal Poly Changes Two Home Dates on 2004 Football Schedule

Jordan Beck and the Cal Poly Mustangs released their completed 2004 football schedule.

Jordan Beck and the Cal Poly Mustangs released their completed 2004 football schedule.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- To accomodate the requests of two opponents, Cal Poly has changed the dates of two home games on its 2004 football schedule.

The Mustangs will play Northern Colorado on Nov. 13 instead of Sept. 25 and have moved the South Dakota State game from Nov. 13 to Oct. 2. Both games will kick off at 6 p.m. in Mustang Stadium.

The Sept. 25 date is now a bye.

The requests were initiated following the announcement earlier this month that Saint Maryšs was dropping football, effective immediately. Northern Colorado will now be able to schedule another opponent while South Dakota State will have the opportunity to schedule fellow Great West Football Conference member Southern Utah.

As a result, all six members of the Great West Football Conference will play each other in the conferencešs inaugural season this fall. The six members are Cal Poly, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, UC Davis, Northern Colorado and North Dakota State.

Cal Poly added Texas State to its schedule last month, replacing Saint Mary's on Oct. 16. That will be the Mustangs' Homecoming Game while the South Dakota State contest on Oct. 2 will be the Hall of Fame Game.
